Our Doxie Story

Charlotte and I are glad you’re here. I started this site to help answer some of the many questions I had when I was considering becoming a first-time dog mom. Everything from what breed should I consider to what is the circumference of a nine-week-old miniature dachshund’s neck so I can order a harness for when I pick her up?

I was raised with a Chesapeake retriever. She and I were born around the same time, and we became best buds. But a big dog wasn’t an option for me in my small house, so I started looking for small dogs that were more like big dogs. When I read that dachshunds are big dogs in little-dog bodies, and when I saw an Instagram video of a mini doxie puppy nestled into a woman’s neck with that tiny, enthusiastic tail wag, I was smitten. 

Fast forward to now. Charlotte and I are learning together. Oh, I did ALL the reading and YouTube watching as I waited on the puppy wait list. I thought I had it all figured out. But that’s where this site comes in and comes from. I did not. I still don’t, but I hope I can share what I’ve learned so far to make your doxie journey smoother. And I hope you find the same joy in a miniature companion that I’ve found with Charlotte.
